New England Patriots Make Perfect Sense for WR Anquan Boldin in 2016 NFL Free Agency

The New England Patriots are entering the offseason with a few needs at different positions. One player that makes perfect sense for them is wide receiver Anquan Boldin in 2016 NFL free agency.

Coming off of an incredibly disappointing season for the San Francisco 49ers, a change to a team like the Patriots would likely intrigue Boldin very much. He still has quite a bit of football left to play before he hangs up his cleats. There are going to be plenty of other teams interested in him, but few that would be as good of a fit as the Patriots would be.

Boldin has been the perfect professional throughout his NFL career thus far. He has been a leader and has been the definition of consistent.

Throughout the course of the 2015 NFL season, Boldin caught 69 passes for 789 yards and four touchdowns.

At 35 years old, finishing his career with a yearly Super Bowl contender would be a great way to end a fantastic career. New England also has a major opening at the wide receiver position. Tom Brady needs as many targets as possible, which is why the Patriots are going to be out to sign a wide receiver.

It will be interesting to see what ends up happening this coming offseason for Boldin. He is still worth a good $3-5 million per season, but he might be willing to take even more of a discount to play for a team like New England.

There are other wide receiver options out on the market that would make sense for the Patriots as well. While there are other options, there are none that would add the type of experience, leadership and talent mixture that Boldin could. If they are going to spend money on a receiver, it should be on Boldin.

Expect to hear plenty of rumors swirling around about Boldin in free agency, but don't be surprised if the Patriots are one of the teams interested.
