Kirk Cousins: 5 Takeaways for the Washington Redskins' QB from the 2015 NFL Season

The Washington Redskins were pleased to see quarterback Kirk Cousins break out with a big 2015 NFL season. What five takeaways can be made from the season he had and is he the Redskins' future under center?

1. Kirk Cousins Is Without Question Worthy of Another Year

Are we going to go so far as some and say that Kirk Cousins is the future franchise quarterback for the Redskins? Not at that point, but it is obvious that Cousins deserves another season as the starter to prove just that. Cousins definitely has the talent to become a long-term starter in Washington, but he has to attack the offseason hard and improve the areas of his game that need work.

2. Washington Must Move on from Robert Griffin III

Now that Cousins has taken a hold of the starting job, the Redskins are officially ready to move on from Robert Griffin III. If that hadn't already been made clear, it has officially been confirmed. Cousins may not be the franchise's future at the quarterback position, but he is a much better fit than Griffin ever was.

3. His Arm Strength and Accuracy Have Both Improved

Looking at the film from Cousins' 2015 season, there is marked improvement in both his arm strength and accuracy. He has always been a hard worker, but that hard work is paying off now. Cousins had a questionable NFL arm when he first came into the league, but he has changed things up and now has proven that his arm is more than capable of making plays at this level.

4. Jay Gruden's Offense is a Perfect Fit for Him

When Jay Gruden first took over and all the drama with Griffin started occurring, it looked like he could be headed for the exit quickly. Seeing the way that Cousins succeeded in Gruden's offense has changed that outlook drastically. He is a perfect fit for Gruden and the two will continue working well together into the 2016 season.

5. Cousins Can Officially Put His "Bust" Label to Rest

After a few shaky games throughout his career when Griffin went down with injury, Cousins can now finally put the "bust" label to rest. He was drafted in the same draft that Griffin was selected and many thought that was a mistake. Cousins has proven those doubters wrong and his career can now officially put that era behind.
