Houston Texans Rumors: Could the Texans Pursue Acquiring Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch?

The Houston Texans rumors are beginning to fly as they look ahead to the NFL offseason. One question that is coming up is whether the Texans could pursue acquiring Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch.

Rumors have been surrounding the Seahawks and Lynch since their season ended on Sunday with their loss to the Carolina Panthers. Lynch is likely going to be traded or released this coming offseason. He simply doesn't fit into the long-term plans for the Seahawks and there is no telling how much longer he will play anyway.

Lynch likely still has another year or two left to play before retirement rolls around and there will be quite a few teams that are interested in bringing him on board.

Houston could use some help at the running back position, as could be seen throughout the entire 2015 season. Arian Foster went down with yet another season-ending injury and it was a crushing blow to their offense. They still ended up making the playoffs, but the ground game simply wasn't dangerous.

Chris Simms of Bleacher Report opined that the Texans could be one of the teams that made an aggressive push for Lynch.

Seattle saw Lynch miss the majority of the 2015 season due to an abdominal injury. He still ended up playing in seven regular season games and carried the football 111 times for 417 yards and three touchdowns. Those numbers were solid and there is no doubt that he can be an impact player for the Texans' offense.

Whether the Texans trade for him or sign him if Seattle cuts him, they should be willing to pay the price. Adding that type of a weapon to their offense would help them get back to the playoffs next season.

If the Texans do want to bring Lynch on board, they are going to have to beat out the competition. They certainly won't be the best team coming after him, but if they're willing to give up the right price and can convince him that he will be a key part of their success, they have a very good chance.

Expect to see Houston be very active this offseason and it wouldn't be shocking to see them show interest in bringing Lynch on board.
