Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers on Head Coach Mike McCarthy: 'Conflict Is Good'

The Green Bay Packers have seen quarterback Aaron Rodgers have some disagreements with head coach Mike McCarthy, but he doesn't think it's a big deal. In fact, Rodgers talked on the topic and said that "conflict is a good thing" in a recent interview.

Some may agree with that statement, although conflict obviously hasn't been very good for the Packers and Rodgers this season.

Green Bay has been struggling through the worst stretch of football that they have had offensively since Rodgers became the starting quarterback. There are major concerns surrounding the Packers as they get set to face the Washington Redskins in the Wild Card round of the NFL Playoffs. Rodgers has to figure things out and come through with a big game to give his team a chance to win.

"The thing that Mike talks about is that conflict is good," Rodgers said. "I think first of all we have a ton of respect for each other, we both want the same thing. We're both strong competitors. ... When you get a couple competitors together, there's always going to be conflict at times. It's always been constructive and always been two guys who care about winning so much."

McCarthy also took the time to answer questions about the topic and had a good quote himself.

"I think you'd like the fact that your star quarterback is fiery, he's emotional," McCarthy said. "I think a big part of his greatness is the emotion he plays with and how he plays. The other part of it too, he wants to be challenged. I'm the guy that's able to challenge him the most."

Throughout the course of the 2015 NFL season, Rodgers has completed 60.7 percent of his passes for 3,821 yards, 31 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

Those numbers show that Rodgers has still come through with a very solid all-around season even with the struggles that the team has had. Most quarterbacks would love to put up those numbers on their best season.

Looking ahead at the future, McCarthy's status as the head coach in Green Bay could be in doubt if the Packers lose to the Redskins. After seeing the way that the team has folded down the stretch this season, there is absolutely no question that a head coaching change could be in order. That may not end up happening, but it is something to keep an eye on.

Expect to see the Packers come out firing this week against the Redskins' defense and to see Rodgers and McCarthy work well together.
