Washington Redskins' Jay Gruden on Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers: 'He's Frightening'

The Washington Redskins will face the Green Bay Packers this week in an NFC Wild Card matchup. Head coach Jay Gruden talked about Packers' quarterback Aaron Rodgers and simply summed him up by saying "he's frightening" in a recent interview.

Rodgers has not had the dynamic type of year that he's used to having, but he still has put up solid all-around numbers. Gruden talked about the season that Rodgers has had and what type of player he is.

"People who say he's had a down year don't know the quarterback position," Gruden said. "Aaron is still Aaron. He's a frightening guy to watch on tape."

At this point in time the Packers are considered underdogs due to the struggles that they have had throughout the course of the season. They have had times where they looked like the Packers who were 6-0 to start the season, but those moments have been few and far between. Green Bay has to find a way to get back to that point.

Throughout the course of the 2015 season, Rodgers has completed 60.7 percent of his pass attempts for 3,821 yards, 31 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

Rodgers doesn't have Jordy Nelson on-the-field this season due to the torn ACL that he suffered in the preseason. That has hurt the Packers' offense in a big way, as no other receiver has stepped up to replace the deep threat that Nelson has always been for the Packers.

Looking ahead to this week's game, the Packers have to find their offense. Washington does not have an amazing defense and it bodes well for Rodgers to have a big game.

Expect to see the Redskins and Packers deliver a very competitive game. Neither team is much better than the other, although Rodgers is the best player on the field. Green Bay will win if they play up to their potential, but it has been a long time since they have done that.
