Dallas Cowboys Rumors: Marshawn Lynch Is a Potential 2016 NFL Offseason Target

Marshawn Lynch could be cut by the Seattle Seahawks during the 2016 NFL offseason and there are a lot of teams that will be interested in him if that does happen. Dallas Cowboys rumors are beginning to fly and Lynch is a potential offseason target if he is cut by Seattle.

According to Chris Simms of Bleacher Report, Dallas would be one of the top landing spots for Lynch if he is indeed set loose by the Seahawks.

Dallas lost DeMarco Murray last offseason in free agency and didn't do much to replace him. They started the 2015 season with Joseph Randle as their starting running back and ended the year with Darren McFadden in the backfield. Adding a piece like Lynch would help take their ground game back to being an elite weapon.

Lynch missed the majority of the 2015 season due to an abdominal injury, although that should not scare teams away from pursuing him. Assuming he does want to come back for another year, Dallas would be very wise to throw an aggressive contract his way.

During the seven regular season games that Lynch was able to play this season, he put up reasonable statistics. They weren't his usual superstar numbers, but they were still enough to make him one of the more dangerous backs in the NFL. Lynch carried the football 111 times for 417 yards and three touchdowns in the limited playing time that he received.

Jerry Jones has been known to like making big splashes and this would be the definition of a big splash.

Tony Romo and Dez Bryant missed the majority of the 2015 season due to injury and are hoping to get the Cowboys back to the postseason next year. Lynch would immediately step in and help round out the "big three" on the offensive side of the football.

Dallas has one of the top offensive lines in the NFL, which would make Lynch's life even more easier than it has been in Seattle. Jason Garrett would utilize Lynch often during games and adding him to the mix might be exactly what the doctor ordered for them.

Expect to hear plenty of rumors about Lynch and don't be shocked if the Cowboys pursue him if the Seahawks do release him.
