Chris Johnson NFL Injury Update: Arizona Cardinals Running Back Returns to Practice

A new Chris Johnson injury update has come out and the Arizona Cardinals' running back has reportedly returned to practice. He remains on short-term IR and is obviously hoping to return in the postseason this year.

ESPN NFL reporter Field Yates took to his Twitter account to announce the news and it should make the Cardinals and their fans very happy to see Johnson back out on the field.

Johnson was signed just ahead of the season and was expected to be a backup running back for Arizona. He ended up getting forced onto the field due to injury troubles and that was the only help that he needed to prove that he still has football left in the tank. Arizona's offense is a perfect fit for him and it was very tough to see him go down with the fractured leg.

Throughout the 11 games that Johnson played in during the regular season, he put up solid all-around numbers. He carried the football 196 times for 814 yards and three touchdowns. Johnson also caught six passes for 58 yards in the limited playing time that he received before the injury.

Even at 30 years old with all the wear and tear that is on Johnson's body, he is still finding ways to force his way onto the field and make an impact.

Arizona would likely welcome Johnson back to the field with open arms if he does get healthy enough to play. They are set to take on the Green Bay Packers on Saturday night, which doesn't sound like a possible return date for Johnson. Hearing that he is back at practice does give Arizona hope that he could try to make his return for the Super Bowl should they get there.

Rookie running back David Johnson has done an excellent job for the Cardinals since taking over after Johnson's injury. It would be intriguing to see how much playing time Johnson would get if he does make his return during the postseason for the Cardinals.

Expect to hear plenty more about Johnson now that he has made his return to practice and don't be shocked if he plays again if the Cardinals continue winning.
