Philadelphia Eagles Must Not Re-Sign QB Sam Bradford in 2016 NFL Free Agency

The Philadelphia Eagles are set to enter 2016 NFL free agency with a decent list of needs. One thing that they must not do, however, is re-sign quarterback Sam Bradford. Moving on and finding a new quarterback option is a major need for them.

Chip Kelly decided to trade Nick Foles to the St. Louis Rams in exchange for Bradford. It was a move that angered the fan base to say the least and without question paved the road to Kelly's firing. Bradford was inconsistent all season long and there is absolutely no reason to believe that he will turn things around if the Eagles decide to give him a new contract.

Throughout the course of the 2015 season, Bradford ended up completing 65.0 percent of his passes for 3,725 yards, 19 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.

Bradford is 28 years old and there is no question that he still has time to bounce back. That is easier said than done, however, and the Eagles cannot afford to go through another season without a legitimate starting quarterback. Drafting a new quarterback or signing one in free agency would be a better option than bringing Bradford back.

Mark Sanchez would be the starting quarterback if the Eagles moved on from Bradford and didn't bring another quarterback in. He wouldn't be an awful option, but still wouldn't be the type of starter that could take Philadelphia back to the postseason.

There is no question that the Eagles are entering a big season. Their fan base is expecting to see the team take a step forward and they certainly won't like if Bradford is a big part of the attempt to do so.

Doug Pederson was a very good quarterback back in his day, which could help Bradford if they did bring him back. While that is still a possibility, there is also a good chance that Pederson will want to bring in a different quarterback to run his offense.

Expect to see the Eagles have a very busy offseason this year, as the roster will need to be tweaked with the change at head coach. Bradford will get a new deal this offseason, but the Eagles should not be the team that offers him that contract.
