The Dallas Cowboys and Johnny Manziel rumors have been floating around all day long. Reports came out that the Cleveland Browns are set to move on from him this NFL offseason. According to other reports, the troubled quarterback is unlikely to land with the Cowboys.
Manziel was rumored to have interest from Jerry Jones and the Cowboys during the draft a couple years back. They ended up going a different direction, but Jones has repeatedly made his interest in Manziel openly known. That doesn't mean that he would be willing to bring the media nightmare that Manziel has been in Cleveland to Dallas.
Throughout the 2015 season with the Browns, Manziel showed some signs of improvement. He still had off-the-field issues, but his game definitely took a step forward.
At just 23 years old, Manziel still has some time left to turn himself around as a person away from the game of football. He definitely has the potential to be a starter at some point in the future, but that will never happen as long as he is struggling from an attitude perspective. Taking a step back from fame and getting cut could very well be in Manziel's best interests.
Looking ahead at the coming offseason, there will be at least a few teams who show interest in signing him. Dallas may be one of them, but insiders don't seem to think it will actually happen.
One thing is for sure, which is the fact that the Cowboys have to bring in a better backup to Tony Romo for the 2016 season.
Manziel may not be the type of talent that they are looking for, but would certainly be a better option than Brandon Weeden or Kellen Moore. Depending on what his price tag ends up being, signing a player like Manziel could be a very viable option for the Cowboys.
