Los Angeles Rams Could Sign Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning in 2016 NFL Offseason

The Los Angeles Rams are in desperate need of finding some help for the quarterback position in 2016. According to a new report, the Rams could sign Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning in the 2016 NFL offseason to fill that void and are monitoring the situation.

Manning would be a very intriguing fit for the Rams, although there have been reports that he is planning to retire following Super Bowl 50. He has led the Broncos to a huge run in the postseason and going out on top would be an excellent way to end his career. If he did sign with the Rams, there is almost no chance that he would get all the way back to the Super Bowl.

Jeff Fisher would likely be very intrigued by the opportunity to coach Manning. He had to play against him twice a year for quite some time during his tenure as the Tennessee Titans' head coach.

Adding a quarterback like Manning would, however, make the Rams a contender in the NFC West to get into the playoffs. They might not be good enough to beat out other teams in the division like the Seattle Seahawks or Arizona Cardinals, but they would at the very least compete more with them.

Los Angeles already has a talented defense put together and a great supporting cast offensively. Todd Gurley is one of the top running backs in the NFL and is coming off of an impressive rookie season. They also have talented wide receiver Tavon Austin, although they could use some more help at the wide receiver position.

At 39 years old, Manning is one of the best quarterbacks to ever play in the NFL throughout the history of the game.

Throughout the 17 seasons that he has played in the NFL, Manning has put up massive numbers. He has completed 65.3 percent of his passes for 71,940 yards, 539 touchdowns and 251 interceptions. Those numbers show why the Rams would be interested and certainly would be reason for them to aggressively pursue him in free agency.

Convincing Manning to return for another season wouldn't be an easy task for the Rams, but it is well worth the time and effort.

All of that being said, it will be intriguing to see what the upcoming offseason has in store for the Rams. Whether they get Manning or another quarterback, they are likely to be aggressive.

Expect to hear Manning rumors all offseason long and don't be surprised if the Rams are mentioned in those rumors.
