The Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions will face off in NFL Week 17 action on Sunday. What five bold predictions can be made for the game and what should fans be on the lookout for throughout the game?
1. Jay Cutler Finishes the Season with a Strong Performance
One bright spot for the Bears this season has been the solid all-around play of quarterback Jay Cutler. He had quite a few question marks surrounding him coming into the season and he has definitely shown that he can be a long-term quarterback for the Bears. Cutler will finish the season with at least 300 yards and three touchdowns through the air against the weak Lions' defense.
2. Matthew Stafford Shreds the Chicago Defense As Well
Both quarterbacks are going to put on a show this week, as Matthew Stafford will shred through the Chicago defense as well. He has been inconsistent at times this season, but there is no denying that when he plays to his full potential he is a star. Detroit simply has to hope that he can figure out how to put up big numbers every week and fix the consistency problems.
3. Matt Forte Finishes His Chicago Career with a Big Game
At this point in time it appears that Week 17 will be the final week that Matt Forte plays in a Bears' uniform. If that does end up being the case, he will end up finishing his career with a big performance. Forte will be used early and often throughout the game and will make a major impact on the game through the air and on the ground.
4. Calvin Johnson Ends an Inconsistent Season on a Good Note
Detroit has seen former superstar wide receiver Calvin Johnson struggle at times throughout the majority of the 2015 season. It has been disappointing and tough to see injuries and age beginning to catch up and hold him back. Johnson will end his season on a good note this week and will destroy the Bears' inconsistent secondary for a big game.
5. Chicago Gets the Close and Hard-Fought Victory
These two teams are going to battle to the bitter end, especially with it being an NFC North division rivalry game. Chicago is going to get the job done to end the season at 7-9, while the Lions will drop to 6-10 to end the season. It should be an entertaining game, but the Bears are the better all-around football team and will get the job done.
