The Dallas Cowboys are being mentioned in rumors surrounding running back DeMarco Murray and it sounds like he wants to return to Dallas after his struggles with the Philadelphia Eagles.
According to Jason Cole of Bleacher Report, Murray wants to get cut in order to set up a reunion with the Cowboys.
Murray has not gotten along well with Eagles' head coach Chip Kelly and it isn't surprising to hear that he wants out of town. Philadelphia likely wouldn't be opposed to moving him following the season, which could be intriguing for Jerry Jones. Whether he would be willing to give up a decent price for Murray is another question.
Dallas has to feel like Murray betrayed them when he chose to sign with a division rival over them in free agency. It wasn't the smartest move by the former star running back and it just goes to show once again that the grass isn't always greener on the other side of the fence.
Throughout the 2015 NFL season to this point, Murray has carried the football 163 times for 569 yards and four touchdowns. Those numbers are absolutely nothing compared to what he did last season with the Cowboys. Returning to Dallas might be the only way that he will get things turned around.
Philadelphia likely isn't going to cut him due to the contract that he has left following this season. If he wants to get out of town, being traded is the best option that he has.
It would certainly be interesting to see how he could convince Jones and the Cowboys to bring him back. The fan base has already moved on from him and he is one of the more hated players in the league by the Dallas fan base. Coming back from that isn't easy and there are major question marks about whether or not the Cowboys would want to bring him back or if they would rather draft a back.
All of that being said, it will be interesting to see what ends up happening this coming offseason and whether or not the Eagles decide to move on from him.
