Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams has been missing some time due to an ankle injury, but is reportedly likely to return in NFL Week 8 action against the Denver Broncos on the road.
Adams was expected to be one of the key players for the Green Bay offense coming into the 2015 NFL season. He immediately stepped into the starting lineup due to the torn ACL that is keeping Jordy Nelson off the field for the season. Unfortunately, the injury has set him back and has not allowed him to improve early on in the season like he was expected to.
According to Rob Demovsky on Twitter, Mike McCarthy definitely expects his second-year receiver to play on Sunday night against Denver.
Aaron Rodgers has been putting up impressive numbers all season long this year. He has worked his way into being a legitimate MVP candidate this season for what would be the second year in a row. Bringing back Adams would give him yet another receiver to play around with and would make the Packers' offense even more dangerous.
Throughout the limited playing time that Adams has seen this season, he has caught nine passes for 92 yards. He has yet to catch a touchdown on the season, but hopefully he can do just that against the Broncos this coming week.
At just 22 years old, the sky is the limit for Adams looking ahead into the future. He could very well become one of the stars for the Packers' offense, but that will all start with getting back onto the field. Green Bay doesn't "have" to have him, but adding that talent back onto the field makes them nearly unstoppable for opposing defenses.
McCarthy has to be excited to see what the young receiver can bring to the table. He might be a bit rusty coming off this injury, but there is also the chance that he will simply be rested with a lot of energy.
No matter what ends up happening in Wee 8, Adams is going to be a playmaker for the Packers down the stretch of the season.
