1. Aaron Rodgers Leads the Way
Perhaps the biggest reason that the Packers are the Super Bowl favorites this season following Week 6 action is the fact that Aaron Rodgers is their starting quarterback. There aren't many teams that have a quarterback capable of making the plays that Rodgers can and he has shown that time and time again. That fact alone makes Green Bay a front-runner to win the Super Bowl this season.
2. The Impressive Play of the Defense
Green Bay had a major question mark surrounding their defense cominginto this season, but they have been able to put those doubts to bed. Throughout the first six weeks of the season, their defense has shown excellent playmaking ability and the talent to get to the quarterback. There is no question that the Packers' defense is legit and they have a lot more talent to work their way into as they gain more experience throughout the year.
3. Green Bay's Offense Will Continue Improving
While Rodgers and the offense has looked solid, they are far from being as good as they are going to become. Eddie Lacy has been poor to say the least and Green Bay is still dealing with injuries as well. The Packers are going to improve as the season moves forward on the offensive side of the football and opposing defenses should be very scared to face them when that happens.
4. Perfect Mix of Veteran Wisdom and Youthful Athleticism
One of the most important things to do when building an ideal roster is to make sure that there are enough veteran players mixed in with the young players. If there are too many one way or another, there are likely to be issues. Green Bay has the perfect mix of veteran wisdom and youthful athleticism and they will continue improving as the veterans mentor the young players.
5. Green Bay is Out to Prove a Point
After falling in the NFC Championship game last year against the Seattle Seahawks in embarrassing fashion, the Packers are out to prove a point this season. Rodgers and the rest of the team is playing for pride and it is showing. They are taking every game much more seriously than many would despite their fast start and haven't shown any signs of slowing down.
All of that being said, there are a few other teams that are right with the Packers in terms of favorites to win the Super Bowl. New England is one that has made it obvious they are contenders, while the Carolina Panthers have also been impressive. There are other teams that will set themselves apart as well throughout the season, but for now Green Bay should be viewed as Super Bowl favorites.
