Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson: 'I'm the Michael Jordan of Football'

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson responded to Jamaal Charles saying he's the LeBron James of the NFL by saying, "I'm the Michael Jordan of football."

It was an excellent comeback after Charles was trying to say that he was the best running back in the NFL. Peterson has widely been considered the top running back in the league for quite some time, but there is nothing wrong with other players trying to campaign for the spot. Unfortunately, Charles has a lot of rehab to do before getting back on the field following his torn ACL this past week.

Peterson is back on the field this season after being suspended for almost all of last season. He got into trouble for off the field issues with his kids after being accused of child abuse. Obviously things got straightened out and nothing bad come of the situation.

After Peterson was asked about the situation, he thought about things and made the proclamation that he was the MJ of football. He was very crafty with his words, but he came away with an excellent quote.

I'll say I'm the Michael Jordan,'' Peterson said. "There's always the debate, would LeBron be better than Michael? So I'll say I'm the Michael Jordan of football.''

The Kansas City media was talking to Peterson on a conference call and the Vikings' superstar shared his thoughts about the injury that Charles suffered and offered hope for the fan base.

"It hurt me to the core to see my guy go down and in the opposite leg as well,'' Peterson said. "Knowing Jamaal, he'll bounce back. I hated to see him go down like that. He's been through it before with the left knee and he kind of knows what to expect during this rehab and recovering from it. That's one positive.

He went ahead and continue with the positivity and stated that he felt Charles would be just fine due to the work ethic and mentality that he has.

"He has so much talent. He's one of those guys that has that God-given ability. I think if he just has his mind right mentally and puts the work in, he'll be just fine.''

This was an excellent interview by Peterson and it just goes to show once again how much he truly does care about people. No matter what the media may try to say about him after last season, the man is a very caring person and that showed in this interview. He is also a very competitive person, which is something that Charles probably laughed about when reading his quotes about Jordan.

All of that being said, Peterson has been having a good season back with the Vikings. He is coming off of his bye week and will face off against the Chiefs on Sunday afternoon. Peterson has picked up 372 yards and three touchdowns on the 75 carries that he has received this season.

Expect to see Peterson have a big game this week against Kansas City and to see him look to prove his quotes about being the Jordan of the NFL. He certainly has been a dominant running back and one of the best of all-time, but he will strive to put his recent comments on full display in Week 6.
