Andrew Luck is reportedly still dealing with his shoulder injury and the Indianapolis Colts' QB might not play vs. New England in Week 6.
According to Stephen Holder of the Indianapolis Star, Luck might not play due to a football decision being made by the Colts' coaching staff. Luck has been sitting for the past two weeks and there is a chance that he might not be able to make all of the throws that their offense would need him to. Holder shared his personal opinion on Twitter and this report should concern Colts' fans as they get set to face their bitter rivals.
If Luck is unable to play, veteran backup quarterback Matt Hasselbeck would once again start in his place. Hasselbeck has looked very solid in the two games that he has been forced to start, completing 63.2 percent of his passes for 495 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. Indianapolis has won both of the games that he has started, although they were much worse teams than New England.
Without Luck on the field, the Colts don't stand much of a chance to pull out a win this coming Sunday.
Chuck Pagano and the Colts' coaching staff will have to make a tough decision on Luck's status. None of them want to sit him, but Luck's future is much more important than trying to win this individual football game. Indianapolis has to be very careful with Luck's shoulder, especially with the porous offensive line that he has trying to protect him.
Needless to say, it will be intriguing to see what the verdict ends up being about Luck's playing status. More information will likely be released at some point in the next couple days.
He has been struggling so far this season in the first three games that he played, completing just 56.0 percent of his passes for 753 yards, five touchdowns and seven interceptions. If he can cut down on his turnovers his entire season would turn around and be back on track. The Colts believe that he will be just fine, but are hoping that he can get back on the field soon.
Expect to hear more news on Luck in the very near future and it wouldn't be surprising to see him end up playing. He practiced fully with the Colts today, but Holder obviously has an inside track on the team and could know something that none of us know. His opinion definitely holds some weight and leaves Luck's status in a bit of doubt.
