After playing impressive football in the first two weeks of the NFL season, New England Patriots star quarterback Tom Brady is definitely an MVP candidate.
New England sits at 2-0 on the season after big wins over the Pittsburgh Steelers and Buffalo Bills. Neither of those two teams is a poor opponent and the Patriots have proven that they are a legitimate contender in the AFC once again this year. Their main competitor, the Indianapolis Colts, have started off 0-2 and don't look to be a shell of the team that they were last season.
Brady has a big part to do with the early success that they have had this season and there is no question that he is at the top of the MVP award race at this point in time. Aaron Rodgers has played nearly football for the Green Bay Packers so far this season and has helped his team start out 2-0 as well, which puts him in the same category as Brady. Those two are at the top of the list right now by quite a bit.
Throughout the first two games that the Patriots have played so far this season, Brady has thrown for 754 yards, seven touchdowns and no interceptions. He has been as close to perfect as any NFL quarterback possibly could be.
Coming into the 2015 season, it was expected that he would be suspended for the first four games of the season. That would have put the Patriots in a very tough position, but the suspension was lifted and obviously the Patriots are thankful for that ruling.
Rob Gronkowski has been a big reason that Brady has gotten off to a big start this year, but Brady has also spread the football around well. Players like Julian Edelman, Aaron Dobson and even running back Dion Lewis have been big help producers for the Patriots.
Looking ahead at the remainder of the season, there is no question that the Patriots are in a good position to compete for another Super Bowl appearance. Whenever Brady is leading the way, New England will be just fine and will be one of the elite teams in the AFC. He is proving it once again this season right off the bat after all of the struggles to begin last year and the drama he had away from football.
Expect to see Brady continue playing the dominant brand of football that he has shown so far this season.
It will be very interesting to see how the season progresses and whether or not the Patriots can remain at the top of the AFC. There are a few very talented teams that have gotten off to slow starts that are going to turn their seasons around That being said, as long as Brady is under center for the Patriots they will have an MVP caliber player leading the way.
