Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers is looking to break an NFL record in Week 6 against San Diego by passing Johnny Unitas as fastest QB to 30,000 yards.
Randall Liu took to Twitter to explain the current standings of the record and it looks very likely that Rodgers will be able to break the record. He has a lot of time to break the record and a very little way to go before taking over that piece of NFL history. Check out the Tweet that Liu put up for yourself and see what piece of history Rodgers is looking to overtake.
Those numbers are impressive for both quarterbacks, but they certainly show just how dominant Rodgers has been throughout his NFL career to this point. Unitas is considered to be one of the top quarterbacks of all-time and Rodgers is quite a ways ahead of him in this individual number.
At just 31 years old, Rodgers still has a lot of superstar football left to play in his career. He doesn't have the wear and tear on his body that many quarterbacks his age would have, as he didn't play early on during his career. Rodgers sat on the sidelines behind Brett Favre and learned how to play the game without taking the massive hits that young quarterbacks usually take while they learn the game.
Not only did he not take the extra hits then, he has developed the footwork to get out of the pocket and not take the extra hits now. That type of ability to make plays with his legs has seriously helped him have a chance to play much longer than some other quarterbacks.
Rodgers is currently the NFL's reigning MVP and there is a chance that he could win the award in back-to-back seasons if he can continue his near perfect play that he has shown this season.
Green Bay's offense has been surprisingly potent this season despite Jordy Nelson being out for the season with a torn ACL that he suffered in preseason action. A big reason for their success has been the rise in leadership by Rodgers. He has stepped up and shown that he is the complete package in every way that a quarterback needs to be.
Expect to see Rodgers break this record on Sunday against the Chargers and to take his place at the top of another piece of NFL history.
