Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines firmly believe that they can knock off the Spartans at home this afternoon. It won't be an easy task to say the least, but they definitely have the talent to do so.
They have completely changed their program and are finally back on the right track. Harbaugh's hiring has been the biggest step in the right direction and the team is finally back to playing fundamental football. Michigan State is led by Connor Cook, who came away with a win last week to be MSU's top winning quarterback in the history of their program.
Both of these teams will bring a little extra to the field, as they are diehard rivals and the in-state rivalry means so much to their programs and fan bases.
There has been quite a bit of disappointing news coming out this week with Michigan fans vandalizing Michigan State statues and throwing paint filled water balloons at the marching band as well. That kind of things takes away from the game itself and shows the immaturity of the fans in this type of a storied rivalry.
All of that being said, the Wolverines are ranked No. 12 in the nation, while the Spartans are No. 7. Michigan is facing a very tough team, but they are our pick to come out on top today. Harbaugh will get the type of statement win that his team needs and will vault up in the rankings once again.
Expect this game to come down to the wire, but the Wolverines have shown the type of defense and have a balanced offense that can get the job done.
