Michigan Wolverines Fans Vandalize Magic Johnson Michigan State Statue with 'Beat State' Paint

As Michigan and Michigan State get ready to play Saturday, Wolverines fans went too far by vandalizing Magic Johnson's MSU statue with "Beat State" paint.

There is such a thing as school spirit, but there is absolutely no room for vandalizing an iconic statue. It just shows the poor taste of Michigan fans and the program should be ashamed of their fans. Perhaps the even worse thing is that magic Johnson didn't even play football so it did absolutely nothing but promote violence.

Saturday's game is just the latest installment of one of the biggest college rivalries in all of the sports world. Michigan and Michigan State are bitter rivals and this is the first time that the Wolverines have been relevant in years. After seeing the way that their fans are acting now that they are back on track, perhaps it would have been better if they never had gotten back on track.

That being said, here is a picture of the vandalized statue and it is very sad to see this kind of damage done to something so important to Michigan State.

Johnson is one of the best players to ever play the game of basketball and is an extremely classy person as well. Seeing this type of action taken against his statue has to sadden him as well. It won't be easy cleaning it up, but the efforts will begin immediately to right the wrongs of these punks that decided to be so stupid.

Hopefully law enforcement is able to find out who these people were and arrest them. This type of action deserves a harsh penalty and hopefully the "fans" will get what is coming to them.

While we are all hoping that this weekend's game is a good one, quite a few fans that have no stake in the game are going to be rooting for the Spartans after Michigan fans showing has classless they can be. Not all Wolverine fans are that classless, but the amount of fanfare that is being given to the vandals is ridiculous and shows a lack of character by a lot of them.

Michigan and Michigan State will kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET and will be televised on ESPN.
