5 Reasons Why the Chicago Bears Could Make the NFL Playoffs Despite Slow Start

After knocking off the Green Bay Packers on Thanksgiving Day, what five reasons can be given to support the statement that the Chicago Bears could make the NFL Playoffs despite their slow start?

1. Jay Cutler Has Finally Proven That He's a Franchise QB

It has been quite some time since Jay Cutler was viewed as a legitimate franchise quarterback, but after finally beating the Packers at Lambeau Field there is hope once again. He has been cutting down the mistakes and has fit perfectly into John Fox and Adam Gase's system. Cutler is not just hype and will continue leading the Bears forward and playing high caliber football.

2. Matt Forte and Jeremy Langord Are a Lethal One-Two RB Punch

Having one star running back is hard to find for most NFL teams, but the Bears have two guys who are playing like stars this season. Matt Forte and Jeremy Langford are without question one of the top one-two punches at the running back position in the NFL. They will both continue receiving work throughout the remainder of the season, which will give the Bears an advantage in almost every game they play.

3. Improving Defense Each and Every Week

At the start of the season, the Bears' defense looked awful and there were major question marks surrounding them. Jared Allen and Jon Bostic were both traded and things have been improving in a big way since then. After holding the Packers to just 13 points, the Bears defense has shown that it is improving each and every week which will help moving forward.

4. Alshon Jeffery and Wide Receiver Corps Getting Healthy

Early on in the season Alshon Jeffery was hurt, but he is back and is playing like a superstar. Eddie Royal is close to returning, while Martellus Bennett will be back as well. Adding in the emergence of Zach Miller and Kevin White possibly coming back and the Bears are going to continue having an impressive group of targets for Jay Cutler to throw to.

5. Presence of One of the Best Coaching Staffs in the NFL

John Fox and Adam Gase have completely turned the Bears' offense around, while Vic Fangio has come in and been a great presence for the defense. Chicago has one of the top coaching staffs in the NFL this season. That is one of the most underrated aspects of a football team and the Bears are beginning to buy into the new system and it is showing.
