Peyton Manning seriously considered retirement following last season, but chose to come back and play one more year with the Denver Broncos. Rumors are beginning to swirl that he has made plans to continue playing next season with or without the Broncos and he is mad at the media for spreading those false plans.
According to a report from Mike Klis on Twitter, Manning is incensed by the reports that he plans to play next season no matter if it's with Denver or another team.
There is no question that Manning is upset with the type of performance that he has put up for the Broncos this season. He is now dealing with a partially torn plantar fascia, which cost him to miss this week's game against the Chicago Bears and will force him to miss next game as well. Brock Osweiler showed signs of being a starting caliber quarterback against the Bears and another chance will be given this week.
Due to the age of Manning, there is a good chance that the Broncos could choose to move on from him and allow him to leave in free agency. If that did happen, Manning would have a very tough decision to make.
Throughout the 2015 NFL season to this point, Manning has completed 59.9 percent of his passes for 2,180 yards, nine touchdowns and 17 interceptions. He has been struggling mightily with his accuracy and decision-making throughout the season. Whether that has to do with an injury he has been dealing with or simply less time due to a reconstructed offensive line, it has still been a tough year.
At 39 years old, Manning is without question going to consider retiring once again following this season. He nearly pulled the trigger and called it a career last offseason, but he decided to give it one more year and try to power his team to the playoffs one more time.
Expect to hear more rumors come out about Manning as the season continues forward. Seeing him retire is going to be a very sad day for the NFL and its fans and it is coming in the near future. Whether that time is following this season or if he plays another year or two, he will be loved and remembered for the superstar that he has been for the majority of his career.
