As the MLB offseason begins to heat up, more MLB trade rumors are going to continue swirling. One rumor that could be something to keep an eye on is that the Cleveland Indians could pull off a trade for Cincinnati Reds star Todd Frazier.
Rick Weiner of Bleacher Report suggested that Frazier heading to the Indians could be a deal that happens and mentioned that Jayson Stark of ESPN has mentioned that the Reds are open to dealing him.
Needless to say, acquiring a piece like Frazier would be a massive move for any team. His power is among the best in Major League Baseball and he is a solid defensive player as well. Obviously he was the Reds' best player last season, which says something with the offensive talent that they have on their roster.
During the 2015 MLB season with the Reds, Frazier ended up compiling a .255 batting average to go along with 35 home runs and 89 RBI's. Those numbers show just how dominant he was at the plate and why another team would be willing to give up such a huge return for him.
Cincinnati is going to be looking to bring young talent back in any trade that they make and the Indians have plenty available. If Cleveland does decide to aggressively pursue a trade for Frazier, names like Yandy Diaz, Tyler Naquin and Danny Salazar could come up as a potential return.
Whether or not the Indians are actually going to pursue Frazier is a completely different question.
All of that being said, this is an option that would make sense for both teams and could mean a trade in the future. Something definitely could get done between these two teams that would be beneficially helpful for them.
