Cincinnati Reds Will Likely Try to Trade Pitcher Aroldis Chapman in 2015 MLB Offseason

The Cincinnati Reds will likely try to trade relief pitcher Aroldis Chapman in the 2015 MLB offseason after trying to trade him this past season at the MLB trade deadline.

According to Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report, Chapman is the most likely player to be traded by the Reds this coming offseason. They talked with the Arizona Diamondbacks in particular at the trade deadline, but Arizona wasn't willing to give up the price tag that it would take to acquire him. Chapman is one of the most dominant pitchers in all of baseball and there will be teams interested in him.

During the 2015 season with the Reds, Chapman was able to put up impressive numbers once again. He ended the year pitching 66.1 innings throughout the year and compiled a 1.63 ERA to go along with 33 saves and a 3.52 K/BB ratio.

At just 27 years old, Chapman has an incredibly bright future ahead of him. He is still very much in the prime of his career and there is nothing holding him back from continuing his dominance for another seven or eight seasons if not longer. Cincinnati is about to begin a new rebuilding process and trading Chapman is the biggest thing that could help them jumpstart the process.

Other teams than the Diamondbacks are going to try to talk with the Reds and figure out a reasonable price tag for Chapman.

One team that could make a phone call is the Chicago Cubs, although Cincinnati likely wouldn't trade Chapman to the Cubs. Trading that type of a dominant closer within the division is simply a bad idea. Theo Epstein is looking to make some big moves this offseason, however, and adding Chapman would give them the type of bullpen improvement that they need.

There are many other teams in desperate need of improving their bullpen as well and there will be a team that decides to pull the trigger on a trade with the Reds.

Expect to hear quite a few rumors this coming offseason with quite a few teams looking to make big moves. Cincinnati is going to be very active in trade talks and Chapman's name will come up a lot in the rumor mill.
