The Minnesota Vikings and St. Louis Rams are set to face off in NFL Week 9 action and it is expected to be a very entertaining game between two up-and-coming teams. What five bold predictions can be made for the game?
1. Adrian Peterson Rushes for 100+ Yards and Two TD's
Over the past few seasons, Adrian Peterson has been widely viewed as the top running back in the NFL. He has been a bit inconsistent this week and has a tough matchup ahead against a very good Rams' defense this week. Despite that fact, the Vikings are going to give him a very heavy workload and he will rush for at least 100 yards and two touchdowns.
2. Todd Gurley Outdoes Peterson for 150 Yards and a Touchdown
There is no question that Todd Gurley has worked his way into being the top running back in the NFL and he is still improving as well. He has been putting up huge numbers over the past couple of weeks and will record at least 150 yards and a touchdown. Gurley has a good chance to put up even bigger numbers, but we'll keep them there at this point in time.
3. Stefon Diggs Continues His Impressive Stretch of Performances
Minnesota was looking for a legitimate No. 1 wide receiver this season and rookie wide receiver Stefon Diggs has become that guy for them. He has caught 25 passes for 419 yards and two touchdowns this season, with most of those numbers coming in the last few weeks. Minnesota is going to continue going to him early and often throughout the game and he will have another big game against the Rams.
4. Nick Foles Throws at Least Two Interceptions
This isn't the big bold positive prediction that Rams fans were looking for and could actually end up costing them the game if it comes true. Nick Foles has had a turnover issue throughout the season so far and he will throw at least two interceptions this week. Minnesota has a very talented defense and two interceptions is something that they definitely can make happen.
5. St. Louis Rams Squeak Out a Very Tough Victory
Todd Gurley and the Rams are going to find a way to get the job done this week and improve to 5-3 on the season. Jeff Fisher knows that his team is in the playoff hunt and they without question have the talent to make that kind of a push. St. Louis will squeak out a win on the road and will prove that they are indeed a legitimate playoff contender.
Overview
While this game may not have been a "must see" game at this time a couple years ago, these two teams have built themselves up into contenders. They are both capable of making it into the NFC Wild Card round of the playoffs, but winning this game is a must. St. Louis seems to have a bit of an advantage due to their defense, but the Vikings aren't going to go down without a fight.
