As Fantasy Football Week 9 action gets underway, it is time to begin taking a look at the projection numbers for quite a few different players. New Orleans Saints wide receiver Willie Snead is who we will focus on right now.
Snead has broken out this season with the Saints and become a legitimate starting option for fantasy owners. This week is a very intriguing matchup for the Saints against a poor Tennessee Titans defense. What should fantasy owners be expecting out of Snead in particular?
While the matchup is definitely good for Snead, there are reasons for concern. Drew Brees has been finding Ben Watson quite a bit recently, while also having other wide receiver targets to throw to in Marques Colston and Brandin Cooks. A lot of Snead's production is based simply on where Brees feels like throwing to throughout the game.
That is a tough position for Snead to be in, but it is also exaclty what has made him such a dangerous option this year.
Coming into this week's game, Snead has put up very impressive numbers for being a no name player ahead of the season. He has caught 35 passes for 531 yards and three touchdowns. Those numbers may not look huge, but a large portion of them have come in two or three games in particular.
Last week against the New York Giants, Snead was a huge fantasy producer with six receptions for 70 yards and two touchdowns. Just one week earlier against the Indianapolis Colts, Snead caught three passes for 25 yards and no touchdowns. Consistency has been an issue for him from a fantasy standpoint, but don't let that come in between starting him this week.
Tennessee has given up a lot of yardage throughout the season and they are going to once again this week.
Snead is going to have a big game and Brees will be looking for him deep down the field. The Titans have no one that can stick with his speed down the sideline, which bodes well for Snead's chances to come through with at least one big catch and a potential touchdown.
If you are searching for a quality WR2 or FLEX option this week, Snead is a good option for you. He has a good chance to go off for a big game as well as snag a touchdown or two.
