The New Orleans Saints will host the Tennessee Titans this week in NFL Week 9 action. Both teams are in need of wins, although the Saints are in much better shape. What five bold predictions can be made for the game and what should fans be on the lookout for?
1. Drew Brees Will Throw at Least Five Touchdown Passes
Last week was an absolutely miraculous performance from Saints' star quarterback Drew Brees. He shredded the New York Giants secondary for seven touchdown passes and was absolutely masterful when it came to picking up clutch first downs. Seven touchdowns is a bit too many to ask for this week, but we are going to go out on a limb and predict that he throws at least five of them this week.
2. Marcus Mariota Returns and Shines Against the Saints' Defense
After missing some time due to a knee injury, the Tennessee Titans are happy to welcome rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota back to the lineup. Zach Mettenberger struggled over the past couple of weeks, but Mariota will return and shine against the Saints' secondary this week. He may make a mistake or two, but he should put together a very impressive game in his return.
3. New Orleans Records at Least Five Sacks
While Mariota should have a good game, he won't be able to escape New Orleans without a few bruises. New Orleans has shown off a very solid pass rush and is going to continue putting the pressure on Mariota this week. Expect to see the defense come up with at least five sacks and to be a big key for the Saints throughout the game.
4. Kendall Wright Has a Huge Game for the Titans
Fantasy football owners might be more interested in this point, as we are predicting a big game from Titans' wide receiver Kendall Wright. He is a very fast receiver capable of making plays down the field or across the middle. New Orleans doesn't have a very good secondary, which bodes well for Wright to have his way and make quite a few plays throughout the course of the game.
5. New Orleans Wins Their Fourth Straight Game
Winning four straight games is never an easy thing to do in the NFL and that is exactly what the Saints are going to do this week. Tennessee will put up a fight, but the Saints are a much better all-around football team and will come out with a victory. Brees and New Orleans have to feel good about where they're at after the slow star this season and a win this week would put them at 5-4 on the year.
Overview
Needless to say, this game should be a blowout if the Saints are able to take care of the football. Mariota is going to put up some numbers, but he can't win this football game by himself. New Orleans is beginning to play at a very high level and are finally starting to look like contenders in the NFC.
