Game Prediction: Following the DeAndre Jordan situation this past offseason between the Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Clippers, tonight's game will have a bit more electricity involved than a normal regular season season opener. These two teams hate each other after what happened this past offseason and they are two of the better teams in the Western Conference.
Doc Rivers and the Clippers are widely viewed as the better team, but they still have some question marks as well. Leading up to tonight's game, Jordan talked about how he felt during the entire situation in free agency when he had to let down the Mavericks and their fan base.
"The most emotional part of the whole entire process was when I decided I was going to stay because I knew I had to upset and let down a whole different fanbase," he said. "That definitely got to me."
That fan base is now completely against him, although this game is a home game for the Clippers. Mark Cuban will be in attendance this evening, which will add even more pressure into the game for Jordan. Despite all of the things that could put pressure on Jordan, having Rivers and the Clippers on his side will help calm him down and focus on playing basketball.
Predicting a winner between these two teams tonight is difficult, but we're going to put our money on the Clippers.
Deron Williams and Wes Matthews still aren't ready to play for the Mavericks, which makes this a much easier prediction. As the season moves forward and players get healthy, Dallas is going to be a much better team that you will see tonight. It should be a good game that comes down to the fourth quarter, but the Clippers are the better team and should pull out a big win.
