Things can get a little heated between the cast members of The View, especially now that Rosie O'Donnell has returned to the TV show. According to the latest gossip news updates, Rosie got so upset after a shouting match about race in America with Whoopi Goldberg that once again, O'Donnell threatened to quit the show. Word has it that filming the series for ABC is starting to affect Rosie's behavior at home and her wife, Michelle Rounds, is tired of it. If things don't improve, the couple may soon split up. Co-star Rosie Perez on the other hand insists that every time they have a heated discussion on the show, it shouldn't be labeled a career ending "catfight".
After a pretty intense discussion about race on The View ended with Whoopi Goldberg telling Rosie O'Donnell that you have to be black to understand racism in America, word has it that the actress blew up.
A source with all the behind the scenes deets claimed in Star Magazine's January 12, issue that Rosie's wife is fed up with her over-the-top ultimatums.
According to the informant, once Michelle Rounds heard that Rosie had threated to quit following the onscreen December 18 argument, she too became angry:
"This is exactly what Michelle feared would happen.
"Rosie gets so worked up with the show that she doesn't have the time or patience for family.
"Something [has] to suffer, and in this case it's the ones that should matter most."
During her interview in the latest OK! Magazine, however, Rosie Perez explained that a lot of the reports that there are lingering tensions following heated talks are entirely blown out of proportion:
"Honestly, the only thing I have to say about that is: When you have a bunch of men on TV discussing current event and they're yelling and screaming at each other, you call it a great debate.
"When women do it, you call it a catfight."
When asked about what it was like working with Rosie specifically, Perez told the publication that O'Donnell's reputation for being a self-centered ice queen was undeserved:
"I was very happy [to hear she was returning].
"I've been in the business over 25-years, and she was one of the first people to really be there for me."
The only problem with Perez' insistence that the ladies don't take the fighting personally is the fact that Rosie originally left the show after tensions between the cast seemingly became too much for anyone to bear.
