‘The View’ 2014 Cast Update: Rosie O’Donnell Medicated Return; Barbara Walters Forced Out; Jenny McCarthy Speaks Out? [GOSSIP UPDATE]

It seems like things are still very much in flux at The View as ousted co-star and former nude Playboy playmate Jenny McCarthy complained on Howard Stern this morning about her unceremonious dismissal from the program. It's been announced that Rosie O'Donnell is going to returning to join Whoopi Goldberg next year, but some fear the Rosie may be too medicated to keep up the fast-paced rapport that she was known for during her verbal sparring matches with Fox' Elisabeth Hasselbeck back in 2007. According to the latest 2014 tabloid gossip news update former showrunner, Barbara Walters, was forced out to make room for fresher talent.

Even to the staunchest of Rosie O'Donnell fans the return to The View--where the former talk show host rarely put her best foot forward--seems dubious at best.

According to a production insider who spoke to Star Magazine for their July 28, print edition, the network execs know that O'Donnell's return while either make or break the show:

"Everyone has been asking why they want her back so badly since her March [guest] show was so low-rated, but ABC's top brass have been courting her since then.

"In March she medicated on antidepressants and was very mellow.

"There's a theory the ABC thinks this idea will either sink or swim, and if it sinks, they can officially cancel the show and have The Chew or the new Tyra Banks-led ensemble take its place."

According to the source Barbra Walters has absolutely nothing to do with the show anymore, but that is hardly the way she wanted it:

"Barbara sold her stake in the show back to ABC last year and has zero involvement now.

"[But] she's been taking meetings all around New York City, looking for a new job, telling people the ABC forced her out!"

Jenny McCarthy wants people to know that she didn't want to leave the show either.

When the Playboy bunny spoke to Howard Stern she explained that if her political views has been slightly more askew she would have been allowed to stay:

"I would say that if I wanted to stay with Rosie and I was a Republican, I would still be there right now…We actually went up in ratings once Barbara left and that was our goal."

Ohh...so why does Whoopi gets to stay?
