The Nottingham indie band Tindersticks recently announced their highly anticipated 14th studio album, 'Soft Tissue,' along with the release of its lead single, 'New World,' accompanied by a captivating music video.
Scheduled for release on September 13 via City Slang, 'Soft Tissue' is now available for pre-order, coinciding with an upcoming UK tour that promises an unforgettable evening at London's prestigious Royal Albert Hall.
The introspective lyrics of 'New World,' opening the album, reflect the pervasive theme of confusion and despair, with frontman Stuart Staples remarking, "Baby, I was falling, but the shit that I was falling through. Thought it was just the world rising." This sentiment is echoed throughout the album, exploring themes of destruction and self-reflection.
Stuart further elaborated on the album's creative process, revealing that the inspiration for 'New World' stemmed from the miniature ceramic characters crafted by band member Sid. These figurines served as a metaphor for navigating the complexities of the modern world.
Emphasizing a collaborative and exploratory approach, Stuart highlighted the band's trust and flexibility in defining the album's direction. He emphasized that 'Soft Tissue' represents a departure from previous works, driven by a shared ambition to push boundaries and explore uncharted musical territories.
In addition to the album announcement, Tindersticks unveiled a series of live dates, including a headline performance at London's Royal Albert Hall on March 17, 2025, as well as upcoming shows in Brighton, Manchester, Bristol, Birmingham, and Sheffield later this year.
