The highly anticipated rematch between Ronda Rousey and Holly Holm has been buzzing around the web for quite some time but Miesha Tate took Rousey's possible revenge away from her by winning the UFC Women's Bantamweight belt on Saturday, March 5. Not only were the fans disappointed that they will not be able to see the epic rematch, but Rousey herself was also devastated by the fact that she won't get her revenge.
“Hearing that Holly Holm lost was a blow to Ronda’s ego and pocket book,” a source told HollywoodLife exclusively. “Ronda wanted to be the one to provide Holly with her first loss and get revenge at the same time."
The 29-year-old MMA fighter and actress has never lost a match before UFC 193, but her long-running reign ended with a brutal kick to the neck that knocked her out on the 2nd round of the title fight.
Even though Rousey wanted to get her confidence back by handing Holm her very first loss in their rematch, now that it won't happen anymore, it still gives her some sort of pleasure because she knows that she already defeated Tate twice before. She is very confident that there is a big possibility that she will get her belt back.
“The only thing making Ronda happy is that she has dominated Miesha Tate in the past and anticipates to do the same in the future,” the source noted. “Ronda feels she is the number one contender, and anticipates fighting Miesha and winning again, but she is disappointed that she will never have the huge payday with Holly anymore; the fight doesn’t have that same aura and cache.”
