The New York Knicks struggle over their last few games may be due to poor coaching. According to NEw York Daily News, "[Derek] Fisher escaped blame during last season's disaster because of the tanking circumstances, but the Knicks' regression in recent weeks, the team's lack of consistency and identity, along with his continued defiance in media interviews, have intensified the scrutiny." Fisher has one of the worst winning records the team has ever had, and it's unlikely this is due solely to poor play on the part of the team.
The Detroit Pistons continue focusing on their defense, and while they still lost to the Celtics, it has improved since other recent games. Coach Stan Van Gundy stated that "Our defense was better overall, especially our halfcourt defense, but the turnovers and the missing of open people and our inability to shoot the ball even when we were open - it was a pretty bad offensive night."
