The Atlanta Hawks rumors are beginning to the fly as the NBA trade deadline continues to draw closer. According to recent reports, Al Horford could be traded ahead of the deadline and the Hawks are willing to pull the trigger on the right deal.
Horford has been one of the faces of the Hawks' franchise since coming into the league and it would be strange to see him elsewhere. Atlanta has had a lot of success with him leading the way and trading him would be the start of a new era. He isn't going to be traded for anything, but the Hawks would be willing to make a deal if a team blew them away with an offer.
Throughout the course of the 2015-16 NBA season, Horford has put up solid all-around numbers. He has averaged 15.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game.
At 29 years old, the clock is beginning to tick on Horford's career and the Hawks are seeing that fact.
They realize that he isn't going to be a dominant big man for too terribly much longer. He is going to start slowing down a bit in the coming years. Age will begin catching up to him and the Hawks shouldn't hang onto him until that happens.
More than likely, the Hawks are going to have quite a few teams expressing interest in acquiring Horford. He is a great talent and there are many teams that could use help in the front-court. There is always the chance that the Hawks don't get an offer they like, but there is also a chance that a playoff contender could go all out to bring a piece like him on board to complete their team.
Looking ahead at the deadline, there is a good chance for a lot of deals to be made.
Atlanta could end up being either a buyer or a seller. Jeff Teague has also been mentioned to be on the trade block. Horford is one of the bigger pieces available at this point in time and it'll be interesting to see what ends up happening over the next few weeks.
Expect to hear plenty more about Horford and don't be surprised to start hearing of teams being interested in acquiring him from the Hawks.
