Salman, Shah Rukh, and Aamir Khan Have Films Releasing This Year: Good For Bollywood?

For a long time now. Bollywood has depended on the Khans to put butts in seats and, for the most part, they have came through. Prognosticators have been gazing into the future and see another bed of roses, courtesy of the Khans. In spite of possible clashes with each other's films, trade analyisits believe that this will be a very successful year and the Khans will come through in the pinch once again.

The Financial Express looked at Shah Rukh Khan's Raess, Aamir Khan's Dangal, and Salman Khan's Sultan. Quote them, "In 2015 we had predicted top movers and shakers in terms of box office collections and the likely films that may well enter the highly exclusive Rs 100 crore club. In 2016 we do the same but with a difference. So, Shahrukh Khan starrer Raees, Salman Khan's Sultan and Aamir Khan's Dangal box office collections prediction is that they will turn out to be Rs 200+ crore films."

The Financial Express feels very confident in Shah Rukh Khan's Raees, in spite of the fact that it appears it will be going head to head against Salman Khan's Sultan. Further complicating Raees' economic future, according to the Financial Express, is Pakistani actress Mahira Khan is playing the female lead. Her nationality will limit the amount of places in India they can publicize the film.

It cannot be underestimated the impact Sultan could have on Raees and vice versa. As for Aamir Khan and his wrestling film Dangal, will the intolerance controversy have any effect on his film? Will it help or hurt? At this point, it is difficult to know or say at this point. Certainly, each have had their controversies and none are the worse for wear. As well, Dangal isn't facing the competition of the other two and this is the public's first chance in over a year to see Aamir on the cinema screen.
