Sanjay Dutt didn't waste his time in jail feeling sorry for himself. The jailed Bollywood icon made plans for his return to acting. When he gets sprung from the clink, Dutt wants to make a film about one of the inmates with whom he served time. Dutt's slate will be full with that, and he plans to begin shooting the third installment of his hit franchise, Munnabhai.
According to the Indian Express, the fellow inmate's story touched Dutt deeply and he made a commitment to film it. According to the web site, "The man is behind the bars following a family dispute and a significant part of the film will be of him inside prison." Furthermore, the site quoted a source who stated (and it might be assumed they are talking about the inmate who the film will be based on), "He is definitely not co-writing this one, but will be actively involved with the scripting and production. The film will roll this year itself."
Dutt plans to become more involved in the production side, once out of jail. There is the biopic of his life, which will star Ranbir Kapoor, as well as this one about his fellow prison inmate, over which The Times of India states Dutt will have total control. The film and the 56-year-old Dutt will, according to TOI, "take a call on the cast and the director once he returns to Mumbai." This will all begin to unravel when Dutt is released Feburary 25.
Dutt, as you will all recall, was convicted in 1993 for possessing illegal fire arms that were used in the Mumbai serial blasts. He has received moral support from all of Bollywood, as well as pledges of support from some big names, including bossman, Salman Khan, as Dutt works his way back into normal life.
