This past weekend, some of the cast of Star Wars: The Force Awakens were involved in a Q & A on the Star Wars Twitter account. During a question presented to Harrison Ford about his favorite scene in the film, he said it was a previously rumored scene.
(((Caution: Potential Spoilers Ahead)))
We are sure to get a ton of leaks and slip-ups in the final stretch before The Force Awakens opens on December 17, so Harrison Ford spoiling a key scene in the film is no big surprise. When Ford's answer went live on Twitter, it was not taken down, so the studio figured that this scene would get leaked before the films release. The implications of the scene that he spoke of give us a little bit about what is in store for a key character in the film, and also says that there will be a big showdown before the credits role.
Harrison Ford was asked what his favorite scene from the film is, and his answer was surprising. He tweeted back that his favorite scene from the new film was the sword duel between Kylo Ren and Rey. He went on to say that the visual storytelling in the scene are riveting. You can check out his tweet below:
This is great. There have been rumors that by the end of the film, we would see Daisey Ridley's Rey pick up a lightsaber and begin her Jedi training, but this tweet basically substantiates those claims. We now know that at some point Rey and Kylo Ren will face-off in battle. We have know for some time that Rey will be present during the Kylo Ren - Finn lightsaber battle from the trailer. We can assume that because the forces-that-be behind the Twitter account didn't immediately delete the tweet, that this is something they expected to get out.
Does this mean that this news is not important? Not one bit. This is great news, and if you really want to dig, go back and re watch the trailers knowing this. You will begin to realize that most of the trailers are strongly suggesting that the 'Force Awakening' is Rey's awakening. We have yet to know how Finn begins his Jedi trip, if that is even what is happening in that short clip during the trailer. Could Finn just be wielding a lightsaber to protect Rey from Kylo because she is extremely important? There are big things starting to happen.
On another note, there were a lot of great tweets that came out of the Q & A session. You can jump over and check them all out here! There was a great relaxed and accomplished feeling coming from the cast, but there was one tweet that trumped them all. Check it out below.
