On January 1, a new contract between Netflix and Disney begins, that will bring a lot of Disney's big titles to the streaming service. The best thing about this? Disney films will appear on Netflix a few weeks after they stop showing in theaters.
This deal is a big step forward for Netflix, which has lacked premier Disney titles from their catalog. This is a huge deal between the two entertainment giants, that will cost a few billion dollars and span four years. Not only does this deal encompass all of Disney's films, but it will also include LucasFilm, Pixar, and the ever-popular Marvel Studios.
Up until recently, the titles included in the deal have remained a mystery. 2015 and 2016 will be two big years for Disney and its subsidiaries, with blockbuster films slated for release such as The Finest Hours, The Jungle Book, and Captain America: Civil War. A complete list has finally been released, and we have some of the larger titles that will come to Netflix below. This deal will also make Netflix the best site to stream Disney titles first, being that it will receive them before anyone else. Unfortunately this deal will not cover The Good Dinosaur and Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens the two big Disney titles this year. Everyone of the titles listed below have already been confirmed to be on Netflix in the near future.
*This list does not include films that are outside of the announced film schedule. but they may be added at a later date.
The Jungle Book - Live Action (2016)
The Finest Hours (2016)
Zootopia (2016)
Captain America: Civil War (2016)
Alice Through the Looking Glass (2016)
Finding Dory (2016)
The Big Friendly Giant (2016)
With a lineup like this slotted to hit Netflix, there is no way that the other streaming services will be able to keep up. This is a pivotal deal that will make waves over the next four years. Buckle up, because it will be one hell of a ride.
