Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy Compares Himself to Former Steelers RB Jerome Bettis

Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy compared himself to former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jerome Bettis when answering questions about his size to the media.

It is a fairly intriguing comparison, but certainly something that makes sense. Bettis was nicknamed "The Bus" because of his size and was almost impossible for one player to take down by himself. Lacy has the same kind of running style for the Packers and is a very similar size as well from a body standpoint.

"Jerome Bettis wasn't the smallest person," Lacy said. "Some people can just play like that, not that I'm Jerome Bettis' weight or nothing like that. I'm just saying, not everybody's meant to look like Adrian Peterson or somebody like that."

Lacy is one of the more intimidating presences at the running back position in the NFL. He stands in at 5-foot-11 and weighs in at 234 pounds. There aren't many players on the defensive side of the field that want to step in Lacy's way and take a hit from him in order to bring him down.

Throughout his first couple seasons since being drafted by the Packers in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft, Lacy has shown steady improvement. He has been struggling early on this year, however, and has picked up just 260 yards and a touchdown on 67 carries.

Those numbers show just how much he has been struggling and there is real concern surrounding the Packers' organization about whether or not he can get back on track this week in a huge Sunday Night Football game against the Denver Broncos.

At 25 years old, Lacy is in the prime of his physical career and shouldn't be struggling with anything from that standpoint. He did have a nagging injury early on in the year but is seemingly past that as well. Lacy still has full confidence from Packers' head coach Mike McCarthy and the team firmly believes that he will get things going.

Hopefully this week is the week that he decides to come back with a big performance, as the Broncos are not going to be easy to beat.

Aaron Rodgers plays at a much higher level when Green Bay's ground game is playing consistently. He would love to see Lacy get back on the field and dominate throughout the remainder of the season.

Expect to see Lacy begin picking his game up in the next few weeks and get back to being the dominant back that he has been throughout his first two seasons.
