Batman v Superman Rumors: Is Ben Affleck Really Batman or is He Someone Else?

This Batman v Superman rumor takes the cake as one of the most outlandish rumors of them all, having implications that begin with one simple question: "What if Ben Affleck isn't Batman at all?" What if the Jared Leto isn't the Joker, but rather Robin, fallen from grace?

Before you start flipping out over the ridiculousness of this rumor, remember, this is exactly why it is a rumor. Some of them will be a little far-fetched while others will completely jump off the deep end.

There is no doubt that Batman v Superman will be huge next year when it hits theaters. Is it going to be everything that we could ever want from these two characters, probably not. That is ok. There have been some pretty great rumors up until now. There have been assumptions that Doomsday is going to be the big villain of the film, Batman would be killing people, and Superman would be teaming up with Lex Luthor. These are all pretty great, but none of them can prepare you for this one.

There is a rumor swirling around that makes a bold statement, "What if Ben Affleck wasn't playing Batman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. You can thank Total Spoilers for this amazing rumor. The rumor guesses that Ben Affleck isn't Bruce Wayne, he is Slade Wilson, who is Deathstroke in the comics, disguised as Batman. But why, you ask? According to the thesis that has made this claim, this would allow Christian Bale to still be Batman, and would allow Chris Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy to be connected to the Man of Steel Universe.

There is no telling where this rumor came from, or even how bored they were to sit and come up with this idea. This is something that did happen in the comics in 2005 (the 'Wanted' storyline in Outsiders). This rumor is hilarious to me. For one, no. For two...just no. This is definitely not what is happening, but it is fun to read through even the worst ideas sometimes.

The Huffington Post says that the thesis also delves "into how the marketing for "Batman v Superman" has been misleading, setting up multiple plot twists that will apparently be revealed come the release date." THis is not it though. The hits just keep on coming. The theory goes on to say that Jared Leto's Joker is actually a fallen Robin. More specifically, the Robin (John Blake) that Joseph Gordon-Levitt played in the Nolan films.

The last part of this theory is not too far-fetched. I have even covered this in the past. You can check out that article here. There is a great idea behind this, but the thesis takes it further, and says that it is Joseph Gordon-Levitt's Robin or Blake, if you will.

These ideas are definitely out there, but can you image how many minds would be blown should this rumor come to fruition? People would panic, and it wouldn't be good. Actually, no, I don't want to see this twist happen at all. It is pretty bad.
