Rumors Say 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' Will Not Feature the Villain Doomsday

Despite rumors swirling that Doomsday is the villain in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, a new rumor has surfaced that says that he is not in the film.

The inclusion of Doomsday in the film would be an interesting move by DC and Warner Bros. Doomsday is a huge villain in the Superman universe and would give the Justice League an ample reason to form. Can I say that? Some fans have come to the conclusion that Doomsday is in the film based on the fact that we have yet to see a villain announced, the secrecy surrounding the character involved and the evident power of the villain seen in the trailers.

For those of you who might not know, Doomsday is the character who killed Superman in the comics in the early 1990s. In the comics, Doomsday was a child killed on Krypton and who was cloned multiple times (after multiple deaths) in an effort to create a being who could survive anything. There are many ways that this character could fit into the film that would be logical. We have seen that Lex Luthor has General Zod's body, so this theory isn't so far off. We know who will be portraying the villain, Callan Mulvey, but his role in the film is unspecified.

Over the weekend, news came out that Doomsday is not in the theatrical cut of the film, according to Sean Ray of Moving Picture Company via an Instagram post, according to DC Comics Movie. The post started out innocently saying, "Batman v Superman is wrapped, one the best films i have worked on! My inner child is happy! I'm the biggest superman fan ever! So it was a dream to work on it! Looking forward to seeing it on the big screen in March! I can't wait !! Good job everyone who worked on it #mpc #batmanvsuperman #batman #wonderwoman #superman #trinity #dccomics #dc #dcuniverse."

In the comments (of the post), a fan asked if Ray had created the 3D model of Doomsday for the film. Ray simply stated, "Lol unfortunately he's not in the film, maybe in the Man of Steel sequel or Justice League film who knows." According to Dark Horizons, Sean Ray works as a 3D character/Creature Artist at MPC. The posts and the entire Instagram account were removed sometime shortly after that post.

So, what does this mean?

Who is the villain going to be in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice? Does this mean that we could see Bizarro or Braniac make an appearance? If Doomsday has been left on the cutting room floor, does that mean that we could see him in one of the next few DC films?

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will hit theaters on March 25, 2016.
