The 2015 New York Comic-Con reveals new details on the costumes worn by Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman and a few character background specifics in Batman v Superman.
Batman v Superman has a large presence this year at the NYCC. The Lex Luthor interview with Forbes was just the tip of the iceberg. DC and Warner Bros. have hit the streets at the NYCC this year with fierceness that is unrivaled. LexCorp has given NYCC free Wi-Fi, merchandise is on display throughout the showroom floor, not to mention all of the logos and heroes' costumes that have made an appearance.
One big assumption that came out of the San Diego Comic-Con is the scene that was seen in the last trailer that we saw. The clip in question involves Batman equipped with desert gear fighting a group of vigilante Superman followers. In the scene, Batman is seen snapping one of their necks. This is against what Batman does. Some fan speculation says that this clip of Batman killing people is a nightmare sequence from the film. According to Screenrant, this is the case. They reported that a toy figure that is on display at NYCC is called Knightmare Batman and it shows the Dark Knight outfitted in desert gear. This all but backs up previous assumptions that this scene is a dream sequence.
DC All-Access
has given us a special look at the detail work that went into creating the costumes for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice courtesy of Screenrant. Check it out above. This clip is awesome! It breaks down the Superman costume saying that Zack Snyder implemented the inclusion of Kryptonian script and other worldly textures into the suit. They focused on making Superman's suit look alien.
With Batman, it was important that this Batman was different, something the fans have yet to see. With this film, it was important that their Batman stood out. He is big, actually having a bigger silhouette than Superman. He is a tower of muscle that was inspired by Frank Miller's Batman from the comics. Now, this is no big news, but it seems that the costume design of the Caped Crusader has solved a big Batman dilemma. Ben Affleck's cowl will allow him a full range of movement. This will be the first time that Batman will have this, while having a cowl that is more reminiscent to the one worn in the comics.
With Wonder Woman, they wanted to present viewers with a character that was powerful yet graceful. This is a precious topic, because the way that Wonder Woman will be seen will finally reveal if we will start to see a change in the way that female lead characters are portrayed in comic book movies. One thing that the designers focused on was the bracers and WW golden lasso. The film is taking the approach to Wonder Woman that she is more godlike. She has been around for a very long time, and the costume will reflect this.
The clip goes on the talk a little bit about Frank Miller's upcoming Dark Knight 3: The Master Race, and what we will see in the book series.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters on March 25, 2016.
