While the news that John Stamos was actually high on the party drug GHB when he was arrested for driving under the influence a few months ago in Las Angeles no doubt came as a surprise to his Full House fans, word has it that Uncle Jesse wasn't trying to take advantage of himself. According to the latest gossip news updates, the 52-year-old sitcom star was using the well-known date-rape narcotic as a workout enhancing supplement. It's said that GHB can help muscles heal more quickly between workouts, and Stamos was reportedly using the substance to help him get in peak shape for his new TV shows, Grandfathered and Fuller House.
When it was first announced back in June that John Stamos had been taken to the hospital by police after being pulled over while driving under the influence, it was pretty much assumed by all that it was alcohol's influence that he was under.
Last week everyone learned, however, that Stamos had actually ingested the party drug GHB before getting behind the wheel of his Mercedes Benz June 12.
One source in that latest October 26, issue of Star magazine claims that Stamos was taking the knockout drug to better rest his muscles between workouts -- not to get super-messed-up:
"John was obsessed with looking good on screen, and his friends were really getting worried. He was barely eating and working out nonstop.
"They're not surprised he did something drastic, but they are concerned. No one knew he was taking GHB, and now these criminal charges will be filed...That is now a good look for Uncle Jesse."
While Netflix has yet to comment on the arrest of their Fuller House executive producer, Deadline reports that Fox certainly seemed unfazed by the news:
"As a clear sign of confidence, mere hours later, Fox said it had ordered six more scripts for [Grandfathered] and its lead-out, The Grinder."
