Spoiler Alert: The Season 5 premiere of Once Upon A Time is almost here. Last season we saw Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison) embraced her inner evil, become the new Dark One/Dark Swan. Meanwhile, The (once) Evil Queen, Regina (Lana Parrilla) is coming over to the light side of the force (or whatever it’s called). Now, Parrilla is opening up about Regina’s redemption.
Recently, the (formerly) Evil Queen herself, Lana Parrilla spoke to Yahoo TV where she previewed the upcoming season:
“It’s really family-oriented, as it always has been. It’s about us trying to save Emma -- trying to save Emma from the darkness and pull her into the light.”
Parrila went on to discuss Regina's lighter side, adding:
“The last couple of years, exploring the lighter side of this character has been a ton of fun. I don’t think Regina ever thought she’d have family in her life. I think she accepted that she’d be alone. When she got to Storybrooke, this world that she had created was not really amounting to much for her and wasn’t providing her much happiness, and that’s why she adopted Henry. But she’s never had a support system or a team of people who are banding together to fight for her happiness. I think for Regina, she’s touched by this, overwhelmed by it, and also uncomfortable about it.”
The official plot synopsis for Sunday night’s Season 5 premiere episode of Once Upon A Time, titled “The Dark Swan,” reads:
“In the fifth-season opener, Emma seeks help from Merlin as she tries to fight her new dark urges in the Enchanted Forest, and she gets some assistance from Merida, King Arthur and his knights. Meanwhile, Emma's loved ones unite and try to save her.”
Be sure to check the all new episode of Once Upon A Time, Sunday night at 8:00 p.m. eastern on ABC.
