First it was KBS (Korean Broadcast System) that had a spat with the boys of K-Pop supergroup Big Bang over a slanted, in the band's view, documentary detailing an auto accident one of the member's had that left a person dead. Now, producers of SBS TV music program Inkigayo and the band and its supporters are at odds. The band was supposed to appear on an episode of the variety show Inkigayo but didn't, and online supporters of the band have alleged this was due to the absence of G-Dragon and T.O.P.
KPopStarz.com in an article about the incident, speculated that the network may have reacted negatively to the two's absence from the band, as Big Bang was the #1 band of the week. However, it was revealed that a scheduling conflict, due to the shooting of a much video, was the reason for them not being there. Officials from Big Bang's management team, YG Entertainment, have yet to issue a statement about the incident.
The episode of Inkiyago aired without a winner announced, and many believed the TV station was trying to foster discontent between fans of EXO and Big Bang. Arguments between the two factions have ensued alleging voting frauds on the selection process.
On the SBS site, official word has come down that the band has been banned from the Inkiyago program. I quote, "It has always been problematic when a 1st place group does not appear on the live broadcast unless they had an unavoidable reason. Big Bang's case is the same. They might have been filming their MV, but the staff must have seen it as a problem as unfair to the rest of the groups."
A definite claim could be made that the program's producers are arbitrarily trying to stir up some trouble between the various bands, which shall outrage protestors all the more. Stay tuned.
