Mystic River Oscar winner Sean Penn has made no secret about the animosity his ex-wife, Robin Wright, feels for him since their tumultuous divorce years ago, but word has it that the hard feelings make it next to impossible for the House of Cards First Lady to accept his new girlfriend, Charlize Theron, into the family as well. According to the latest gossip news updates, the Forest Gump star has absolutely no love for the Mad Max beauty and wants her daughter, Dylan, to also turn a cold shoulder to her dad's new fiancé. At this rate, if Sean and Charlize do soon get married his kids with the Princess Bride might not even come to the wedding.
It may have taken Sean Penn month-upon-months to admit that he was in love with Charlize Theron, but the Gunmen action star had no problem coyly revealing in an Esquire interview back in January that he and Robin Wright definitely weren't on speaking terms any longer (via Gawker):
"I'm very friendly with my first ex-wife.
"I would say that I'm on extremely good terms with the children I share with my second ex-wife."
A source claiming to be close to Robin insists in the May 18, issue of OK! Magazine, that Wright now wants their kids to carry a grudge against their father and his new girlfriend as well:
"There's still tons of bad feelings between Robin and Sean.
"Robin is the one who raised them, and she still holds a grudge against Sean.
"She has so much dirt on Sean that it's not worth the fight, so really he just has to put up with it and forgo defending himself."
According to the informant, Robin has so successfully laid down the bad vibes that Sean's daughter, Dylan, and son, Hopper, are finding that Charlize is no longer even trying to reach out to them anymore:
"She tried in the early days but it was losing battle...She decided to stay focused on Sean, her adopted son, Jackson, and her career."
Perhaps that wouldn't sound like utter nonsense had Dylan not already gone out of her way to let it be known just how much she admires Theron and how happy she is to have her joining the family (via Us Weekly):
"She's awesome.
"She's great and they're amazing together.
"And she's the only woman since my mom [Robin Wright] who can shut my dad up.
"The only woman! That is a f*cking challenge so... She's a powerhouse."
Thankfully the chip on Robin Wright's shoulder hasn't seemed to poison the well just yet.
