Girls creator and star, Lena Dunham, is more than excited to be appearing on ABC's hit political drama, Scandal and wants her poor choice of wigs to in no way reflect on Shonda Rhimes reputation as a top tier showrunner. According to the latest gossip news updates, Lena is taking all the credit for the TV show hairpiece that everyone has been lambasting over social media as being solely her idea. Anyone that is too traumatized by her ridiculous pigtails can always turn to Hannah Horath's latest Instagram video post with Girls bombshell Alison Williams. The HBO eye-candy takes the Twizzler Challenge for autism, which is essentially the spaghetti and meatball make out scene from Lady and the Tramp with the red licorice serving in the place of the pasta, to raise awareness and money for research in the same way the Ice Bucket Challenge has for ALS.
After Shonda Rhimes made Lena Dunham's "longtime dream" come true by letting her guest star on Scandal, there is no way the Girls creator would let the showbiz legend go down for the wig she wears in her episode.
During her recent visit to Late Night with Seth Meyers, Lena explained that if Shonda was to blame for anything it was letting her go through with her own bad idea (via Us Weekly):
"I want to say that the wig was my idea, and this was not Shonda's narrative choice."
Lena went on to explain that it wasn't that surprising she looked out of place given the differences between Girls and Scandal's overall aesthetic:
"The major difference is everyone on Scandal is just dripping with class.
"When I put my costume on, I thought, 'You know, I think this character might wear diamonds.'
"And I asked, 'Do you think I might be able to have some diamond studs? Maybe a little necklace?'
"When you say that on Girls, you're handed a box from Claire's Accessories.
They went into a safe and they busted out diamonds.
"I was texting everyone I knew, 'You know they've got frickin' diamonds on the Scandal set!'"
Just before debuting her new haircut on Instagram, Dunham posted a video of her sharing a Twizzler/kiss with brunette beauty and Girls co-star to support autism research (via NY Daily News):
"We are here to take the Twizzler Challenge for autism in honor of our dear friend Natasha.
"New York Collaborates for Autism, we love you."
At least the videos will be popular even if the Twizzler Challenge never is.
