After discovering that Meredith definitely isn't cheating on hr husband, Derek Shepherd, earlier in Season 11, now it seems that had his wife gone to D.C. after all she might have caught him being less than faithful. According to the latest Grey's Anatomy gossip news spoilers updates, actress Kelly McCrery, who plays Ellen Pompeo's sister Maggie on the TV show, is going to serve as Grey's closet confident through the crisis. Although the recent storyline has made it particularity easy for core cast member Patrick Dempsey to indulge his second career as a Formula 1 racer, he had to back out of Sebring at the last second due to shooting conflicts. The Loverboy actor has made it clear, however, that Shonda Rhimes's ABC series is still his top priority.
After weeks of often not being able to decide if she wants to be married or not, it seems the decision might have already been made for Ellen Pompeo's titular character on Grey's Anatomy, after a strange woman suspiciously answers her husband's telephone.
Despite having been standoffish when her character, Maggie, first arrived on the scene, Kelly McCreary told Entertainment Weekly that she soon would be the one counseling Meredith though this difficult time:
"As we've seen in the last few episodes, Maggie is eager to be a helpful and supportive sister.
"You'll see a little bit of that going on.
"Maggie shows up as very compassionate towards Meredith as she's trying to solve this mystery."
Whatever happens, it is probably safe to assume that Patrick Dempsey will soon be reappearing to explain himself being that the successful racer car driver just pulled out of a 12-hour run at Sebring in order to do some last minute shooting for the series.
While Dempsey is, of course, disappointed to be missing the event, the veteran actor told Sportscar365 that nothing supersedes Grey's Anatomy is his professional life:
"It is very disappointing that I will miss Sebring, but at the end of the day, Grey's Anatomy is my first priority.
"Grey's has done an incredible job freeing up my schedule for as many races as possible. I am very grateful for all of the support that they have given me."
Dempsey's race team will still be running in this weekend, however, with a fill-in stepping in take his turn at the wheel alongside scheduled partners, Jan Heylen and Madison Snow (via Fox Sports):
"I am happy that Emilio Valverde has agreed to be my 'stand in' for the weekend.
"Madison and Jan will do their usual stellar job, and will keep the No. 58 car up front."
Good to know that Dempsey won't be going all Frankie Muniz on us anytime soon.
