‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Spoilers: Sarah Drew Talks April’s Pregnant Crisis of Faith; Shonda Rhimes Insists Actress Invented Plot [SEASON 11 NEWS]

While Patrick Dempsey is fighting to keep soon-to-be ex-wife, Jillian Fink, from splitting his $40 million net worth right down the middle, Sarah Drew's character, April, on Grey's Anatomy has been fighting with her onscreen husband, Jackson (Jesse Williams), about what do to about their very sick fetus. According to the actress's latest Season 11 spoilers news updates, that outcome will finally lead Jackson's Jesus freak wife to question her faith in an all-powerful and merciful god. ABC's showrunner Shonda Rhimes revealed that Drew would be the ultimate expert on this point of April's arch, being that she actually pitched the initial idea for the crisis of faith plot.

Patrick Dempsey may be dealing with a very real divorce to his wife of 16-years, Jillian Fink, but it's Sarah Drew's character on Grey's Anatomy is having to deal with the tragedy of possibly losing her fictional first baby with new husband, Jackson Avery, played by Jesse Williams.

During a recent chat with E! News, Drew explained the best she could -- without giving to much away about whatever happens -- that it is going to rock Mrs. Avery's beliefs in god right down to the bed rock:

"I don't want to give anything away, but regardless of what the diagnosis is, if it's type 2 or type 3, Jackson and April are looking ahead at a long, difficult road.

"It's going to shake April. It's going to rattle her.

"She's going to really question what she's grown up believing, for sure...why would he let horrible things happen?"

Longtime fans of the medical drama might note that for all the deaths on the TV show over the years it's been on the air, little attention has been paid to religion or the examination of spiritual belief until April showed up.

Shonda Rhimes explained to The Hollywood Reporter that had to do with Sarah bringing it up while they were still in the process of writing this current season.

Shondalans's queen and creator revealed that if not for Sarah Drew's having come up with it on her own, April's impending crisis of faith side story would have never occurred to her:

"It's a really hard and ultimately beautiful story that Sarah Drew pitched to me that we're doing, which is a struggle between science and faith.

"I'm really excited to tell it. Sarah plays it beautifully.

"It does have its spiritual uplifting moments where you actually feel peace for them, which is wonderful."

Let's hope that whatever happens...that Pat Robertson's head explodes while watching it.
