It looks like Rosie O'Donnell may have had the last laugh after all. According to the latest gossip news updates, the League of Their Own star quit The View in a hurry, as to trap TV show rival Whoopi Goldberg on the series. Word has it that the comedienne was in talks with ABC to star in a new show entitled, Delores & Jermaine, when O'Donnell's sudden departure torpedoed the whole deal. It is hard to say if Rosie O really has done all this just to spite her talk show nemesis, but some folks insist that Rosie didn't walk away solely for her health.
When Rosie O'Donnell suddenly announced earlier this month that she was leaving The View effective immediately, most folks thought that her excuse about her heart attack didn't make much sense being that it happened years ago.
According to the journalists at Closer Weekly that is because O'Donnell's faulty ticker was only a small part of her decision to walk away from Barbara Walters' baby a second time:
"There's more to it than that. Insiders reveal that other factors are driving Rosie's decision to leave -- particularly tensions with Whoopi Goldberg, and the program's flagging ratings."
If Rosie did leave the show to spite Whoopi it seems the bold move has worked, as Page Six is reporting that her resignation was the direct cause of Goldberg's losing her shot at staring in Delores & Jermaine for the network next season.
Whoopi told the NY Post's gossip department that regardless of whomever winds up acting on ABC's new series, she is free to star in whatever she likes no matter who's co-hosting The View:
"I've always been able to come and go as I choose.
"It's been in the contract to allow me to go and make movies if I wanted to or do something if I wanted to."
Goldberg then goes on to explain that even if she did want to work on another project, however, being physically able to get all the work done at her age is an entirely different story:
"It's a lot of work to go and do two or three jobs at the same time.
"I'm getting older, and I don't want to work that hard. So we'll see how it all works out."
Whatever is going on behind-the-scene, Goldberg admitted that she was always happy to have work even if she didn't always love the job:
"I never put down the fact that I have a really good job, but I also have bosses.
"They make decisions...sometimes you don't like them and you have to live with them."
Unless you're Rosie O'Donnell...then you make the decisions, and everyone else has to learn how to live with them.
